Lucy Carpenter uses non-traditional materials to make a statement about the negative effects of human interaction with the environment. She did the Plastic Organ project as her thesis work at the University of Puget Sound in 2007-2008. She is currently working on an outdoor installation for a Ronald McDonald House in Chicago, a hanging sculpture made from steel and ceramics. She lives in Port Townsend, Washington, and works at the Marine Science Center teaching and designing a traveling exhibit focused on plastic pollution in the marine environment.
